Coverage Areas

Seligman Fire receives tax money from residents within the Seligman Fire District (between the KOA and Seligman air strip). The Fire District Assist tax that you are paying goes to the State of Arizona to help pay for fire coverage on government buildings such as schools, jails, courthouses, municipal buildings, etc. See example tax bills

If your property is in...

  • Bridge Canyon
  • Sierra Verde
  • Forest Acres
  • Juniper Mountain Ranches
  • Shadow Rock
  • Anywhere within 20 miles of Seligman

you are not automatically covered by Seligman Fire District.

You have 3 choices

  1. Do nothing. - If Seligman Fire is called to extinguish a structure fire on your property, you will be billed the same rate that we bill Arizona State Land for brush fires. In 2006 there were 2 house fires in the Sierra Verde area and the most costly fire was just over $3,000. In 2007 there was one house fire within the Seligman Fire District (the property owner was not charged because he pays the Seligman Fire District tax every year).
  2. Pay a subscription to Seligman Fire. The subscription is based upon the amount property owners pay within the Seligman Fire District boundarys. If a subscription holder has a fire on their property, they are not charged for Seligman Fire's services.
  3. Subscribe with a 3rd party.

Subscription funds are used for fuel, firefighting, purchasing medical supplies and equipment, training, etc.

When you subscribe, you are helping your community!

A subscription may help you with homeowners insurance (it depends upon the insurance company) Also, be sure to write off the subscription on your taxes.
